Large public bath
Women-only open-air bath
"uen no yu"
うえんの湯
The female-use “Uen no Yo” open-air onsen can be reached by climbing down the rock stairs immediately after Yugoya.
Located the furthest in the back, it offers the solitary elegance of being surrounded by a bamboo groove, and a large bath that can fit up to 10 adults and is very popular.
Mixed bathing open-air bath "momiji no yu"
もみじの湯
An open-air onsen that is located alongside the river, with a stream of water cascading into the hot spring, with a soundtrack of steaming water in the background.
The atmosphere changes completely from day to night, and you can enjoy repeated visits.
*It’s generally male-use, but from 21:00 to 22:00 it turns into a women’s onsen.
Women only public bus indoor bath
大浴場 女湯
The men’s bath is located indoors, but the ceiling is high and if the large window is opened guests can see the river flow before their eyes, gaining a sense of space.
The bath is large enough to fit up to 5 or 6 adults in it.
The women’s bath may give off the impression of being somewhat smaller than the men’s, but the tall ceiling and sound of the river are refreshing.
The bathtub is made from stone and of course uses freshly sourced hot spring water.

Private bath
Even for Kurokawa Onsen, the only location where you can enjoy 9 private baths is the Fumoto Ryokan!
There are a variety of private bathtubs that guests can enjoy. The reason that there are no larger bathtubs, aside from the standing bath, is that the own wants to use continuously flowing, freshly sourced hot spring water, rather than constructing an impossibly large bathtub and then needing additional water for it.
※Guests have free of charge !
Private standing bath
立ち湯
The largest of the private baths.
The depth increases the further back you go, reaching a maximum of 150 cm. You can hold onto the wooden pillars in the center and stretch your legs out.
With a natural, relaxed posture, stretch your limbs out to the fullest, and take the load off your hips and knees.
There is an undressing area immediately after you go through the doorway.
Private open-air bath hollowed out from rock
石のくりぬき風呂
As the name suggests, the bathtub is carved from rock.
There is also an area for guests to wash themselves, located adjacent to the bathtub.
The bathtub and bathing room are not overly spacious, but there enough room for 2 adults to go in at the same time.
Private arranged-stone open-air bath
岩組み露天風呂
There is an arranged-stone open-air bath next to the “stone carve bath.”
There is a washing area attached as well.
The bathtub is large enough for 2 or 3 people to be able to fit together.
Private open-air bath "Ichi no yu"
一の湯
“Bath 1,” an open-air onsen that is open and facing the slope, is located in the hut next to the gender-separated open-air onsen.
It’s large enough to hold 2 or 3 adults at the same time, and we believe that the flourishing green shades in front of the guests makes the experience even more refreshing.
There is a washing area attached as well.
Private open-air bath
"Ni no yu" and "San no yu"
二の湯・三の湯
The private onsen next to the “Bath 1” are “Bath 2” and “Bath 3.”
Neither one is overly spacious, but there is a bathing room with a bathtub made from cypress-framed cut stone.
There is a washing area and shower attached as well.
We recommend this private bath for those who want to focus on the onsen, taking their time to fully enjoy it.
Private japanese cypress bath
檜風呂
A small cypress bathtub, remodeled and reopened.
Please enjoy the fresh cypress scent.
Effective for skin beauty, and against frozen shoulders and backaches.
Private open-air bath
"Go no yu"
吾の湯
The outdoor atmosphere is empathized at “Go no Yu,” reachable by climbing the stairs.
The flourishing bamboo grove in the back gives off a refreshing impression.
Given that it’s surrounded on three sides by walls, we think that our guests will be able to enjoy bathing in the onsen without worry.
This cut stone bathtub is large enough to fit five adults.
*May only be used by guests staying overnight at the inn.

Ryokan KOUNOYU
旅館 こうの湯
All rooms in this hotel, which is located slightly away from the bustling Kurokawa Onsen resort, are separated in individual buildings, and are equipped with private open-air baths.
The open-air onsen includes a "tachiyu" that is considered to be the deepest in Japan, where guests can bath standing, and a private open-air onsen.
Dinner meals offer such a gorgeous lineup of dishes that they could be referred to as a "course of Japanese tradition".
Popular ryokan with a large number of repeat visitors.
